  4. Thankyou for letting me indulge my madness. :)

I was reading a little about the Easter Bunny and was flabbergasted that it has nothing to do with Christianity but was rooted in this ancient goddess legend about a rabbit mixed with a bird. Hence the Bunny that brings eggs.
Soap box: I am just saying that it is nice to have a little context. To begin with children made nests for the bunny to come lay its eggs. It was all about celebrating Spring. I like the whole idea much better now.

  5. Hi Amy,
(I tried to use the contact form on your website but it would not allow me to send)
My name is Tiffany Everett. I am an illustration student at the Savannah College of Art and Design. You are my absolute favorite illustrator and I really admire your work. I really want to learn to be loose and painterly in my work like you are.
I discovered you in a funny way actually. I was researching for a football picture book I was asked to do and found the cover of "You can Do It" and loved it but did not look at who the illustrator was. Then I saw the Hilary Clinton book in a store and thought "wow that is beautiful" but still failed to look at who the illustrator was. I then bought The Dog Who Belonged to No One and finally looked up this Amy Bates and was amazed when I realized that THREE books that caught my attention were all by the same illustrator... since then I have also purchased The Best Fence Painter :-)
Anyway, I need to conduct an interview with an illustrator for a presentation in my Intro to Illustration class and I would be honored if you would answer a few questions.
Email or phone is fine. I haven't put the questions together yet but if you would rather talk by phone just give me a heads up.
Thank you. I understand if you are too busy.
    Sincerely, Tiffany Elaine Everett :)
